Integrated Program for the Enhancement and Integrated Management of the Architectural and Landscape Heritage of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia on Asinara Island
The Integrated Programme Asinara is an international ideas competition promoted by the Regional Agency Conservatoria delle Coste della Sardegna to define a new strategic vision for the Island of Asinara. Rather than focusing on a single architectural intervention, the competition calls for the development of an integrated framework capable of guiding the long-term protection, enhancement and management of the island’s architectural and landscape heritage. The aim is to combine conservation and compatible use, environmental sustainability and public responsibility, in full respect of the National Park Plan.
Participants are invited to develop a systemic vision that connects buildings, historic agricultural landscapes, infrastructure and environmental systems, defining compatible use scenarios, innovative management models and operational tools to support future administrative decisions. Asinara is not only a place of extraordinary natural and historical value; it is a fragile and deeply symbolic territory that requires a multidisciplinary approach, integrating environmental, economic, cultural and territorial expertise.
The competition marks the beginning of a new phase for the island, envisioned as a laboratory for advanced public policies and a model for the sustainable management of complex territorial heritage.
